• Hermit crab update

  I purchased a 10 gallon glass tank off eBay to rehouse the hermit crabs into a larger home, so they'd have more room to roam around.  The glass tank came with some hermit crab shells too.  When I saw the shells, I doubted that the hermies would like them since they were either oddly shaped or didn't seem to be a good size to "upgrade" to.  But I placed the shells in the cage anyway for them to explore.  I moved everything over to the new tank last night.. and around 11:30pm I went to check up on them, and to my amazement "Bob bob" had changed his shell!  I haven't taken a picture of Bob bob before, but that's Avani's hermie and he has a Spongebob shell.  Avani calls him Bob bob.    I was disappointed that I didn't get to witness the change, I thought I would never be able to actually see it.    Well, I picked him up to examine how well the shell fits him, but it looks like it was probably too small since he couldn't pull back in all the way.  I placed him back down, then picked up his empty Spongebob shell and grabbed it.  That's when I went to get my camera to ake some pictures.  I had a feeling that he wanted to change back into his old shell.  Then I put the shell back down, and immediately he crawled back to his Spongebob shell, grabbed it and he looked up at meI did get to take a couple pictures of him earlier in his new shell and then when I noticed that he wanted to change back into his Spongebob shell, I went to get the camcorder to record the action.  Check it out!
