Teach me how to… SALON BLOWOUTS!
So last Saturday when I got my hair done, the hair stylist blow dried my hair and I wasn’t expecting anything too special. I just told her that I’d like a lot of volume at the crown. I thought that she would use a couple of root boosting products like mousse and such, but, she didn’t use anything! She just blow dried my hair with a big metal round brush. It ended up being my best blowout ever! I have really thin hair due to post-partum hair loss and if I tied my hair into a bun, it’ll be about the size of a golf ball! Well, she gave my hair the most gorgeous body and volume, and it was smooth, soft & shiny! And she ain’t use no styling products?! *scratches head*
She did, however, spend more than double the time I do blow drying my hair. Maybe I should spend 20 mins instead of 10! It would be so worth it! Btw, my hair still looked just as good the next day. She did use a Moroccan Oil hair spray in the end. Damn, teach me how to salon blowout!
Now ain’t she just *FAB!*

You can boost it by pulling your hair up as you blow dry. At least, I think that’s how it works. I have to pull mine down as I roll the brush so I don’t get so much volume.
Damn it this was suppose to save as draft…!
@Honduran_Goddess - okay, done. I haven’t blow dried with a brush in years. I just blow it to get it dry and style with a styling iron. Never looks nearly as good as the salon. I think I’m going to get a nice & fat ceramic round brush and use my diffuser when I blow dry. See how that works..
@QueenMe - The diffuser will help boost volume, too! You don’t necessarily need to tease it too much, but up and outward will give you the volume you desire. Besides, YouTube always has tutorials on hair styling. You don’t need a flat iron (if that’s not different from a style iron) because your hair needs more volume from what you’re describing.
@Honduran_Goddess - I don’t tease my hair anymore because I’ll get breakage or flyaways. I usually use like a handful of mousse and put it around the crown and just blast my hair with the dryer for about 8 mins. Then I use the Conair Hot Brush for another 5-10 mins to smooth things out or twirl/wave out my hair. http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Heat-Hot-Brush-4-Inch/dp/B001BO0KMC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1327430369&sr=8-5 And then a lil bit of Biosilk..
That’s about it.. if even that much. 20 mins max on my hair. I don’t bother with a flat iron anymore.. it makes my hair look too lifeless.
I was thinking that using a flat iron with your hair would be a bad idea. Sounds like you have a good idea of what to do with it. GO PLAY!
@Honduran_Goddess - I’m about to call the hair stylist and ask what round brush she used on me.. haha.
@QueenMe - Why not!?!?!
